Bassoon is one of the many loves of my life and sharing this skill and creativity through music with a student is an amazing process to be apart of. With my studio lessons, my students learn discipline, self evaluation and reflection, and how to set and accomplish their goals. I offer learning plans tailored to each individual student focusing on their strengths and how to overcome their weaknesses. In addition to bassoon instruction lessons include reeds, reed making, lending library, and bassoon chamber music.

I have broad experience teaching music to people of all ages. From 2013-2015 I taught music education from K-7th grade for Sistema Utah at the West Valley American Preparatory Academy. In acknowledgment of my strict attention to detail and gift for breaking down complex musical topics, my supervisor promoted me to lead the woodwind department. In this role I developed the woodwind curriculum and provided teachers with engaging techniques to get the most out of their pupils. I also coordinated "seminarios” which are one-day musical workshops where students learn a new piece which is performed that same evening.  I am very passionate and enthusiastic about making classical music approachable to all ages, and in Spring 2015, my work was recognized with the “Teacher of the Year” award.

During the last six years, my teaching pivoted from elementary children to young adults serving as Adjunct Professor of Bassoon at Snow College and Idaho State University, where I taught bassoon performance, advanced reed making, chamber music, woodwind pedagogy, and lead special performance classes on various musical topics to baccalaureate students. I am very proud of the feedback I’ve received in these six short years. My students describe me as a fantastic, engaging, and a demanding teacher and my colleagues note my thorough preparation, creativity, collegiality, and strong work ethic.

I have studied with many of the best bassoon performers and teachers in the world. These incredible teachers have provided me with a wealth of practice technique and performance skills that I apply to my students. My students success is my success.
